mommy/courtney night

the other night courtney and i went to see the new movie brave. it has been a long while since courtney and i had some 'mommy/courtney' time since austin has been born so i asked paul to watch austin and courtney and i were off to the movies. what a perfect one to see! it was all mommy/daughter with tons of excitement. it was awesome to get some alone time with courtney too...besides nap time at home. courtney is such an amazing little girl and everyone knows i love her so much. it's nice to be reminded though. it's nice to have that smile (above) looking over at me throughout the movie. obviously happy to have me all to herself for just a little bit. she climbed up in my lap half way through the movie and i pray (literally) that she will always have that comfort with me. she is five and i will take it when she's twenty-five.

june...at a glance...story of our life

i keep saying i will blog more. well. i lie. only to myself though so maybe that's ok. we seem to be busier than ever these days so once again, a month at a glance.
swimming. we love swimming. summer is aka swim time at the pursley home. we swim here, we swim at friend's, we swim at the city aquatic park, we swim at the gym...we swim. i am blessed with children that love the water maybe more than i do. and are definitely cuter doing so.

father's day. i didn't post on father's day?!? oh my. well. father's day was fun and i think paul agrees. his kids adore him and we made our typical home made gifts. he's a good daddy.
I know this is funny if you don't see austin all the time but he is learning to smile. and. well. doesn't quite have it down.

makin' father's day cookies together.
again. love his attempts.
this is how we find austin these days. standing up on everything. he is such a big boy. he loves courtney's kitchen and will make a mess for a long time over there.

oh. our sweet baby girl. this is her to a T. super duper cute polka dot twirly skirt with her long sleeve under armor shirt. gotta love her!

austin is ten months

ten months and a few days. i'm kind of excited to reach a year and put all his "month" pictures together to see how much he has changed. it seems like he just gets stinkin' cuter and cuter. which right now is a really good thing because he has hit the 'fit' stage and if he wasn't so darn cute it would be so darn hard. he does this thing that i think is kinda funny. he is on the ground, screams then puts his head face down and "pouts'. it's usually when he's tired so it is funny to me because he's not just being a brat. austin is such a sweet baby most of the time. those who watch him will tell you the same. babysitters brag (honestly) how he just goes down for the night and doesn't fuss. will he stay that way? let's hope. he is still pretty laid back but is getting a little into the 'mommy' stage. at church i often will give him to paul to give to the nursery since that seems like an easier transition. he is now into eighteen month clothes for the most part which is astoinding! where does this boy get his size? i want to say he's not fat, he's just big. he is still mostly an army baby (scootching) but has begun crawling. he is not very fast yet so he quickly gets to his belly to cover ground in a speedy manner. his latest feat? pulling up...on everything. this brings a whole new world to our home as we used to be able to just put things out of reach. oh no, not anymore. we are pulling up, cruising and walking with help from mommy and daddy. he has seven teeth. four on top and three on bottom. we are still going strong nursing but he loves his food too. mostly fruits and veggies and some times chicken. as much as i loved the baby bullet for preparing baby food (still never had store bought baby food!) austin has moved on to 'big people food'. at this point he will eat whatever we are eating for the most part, even spicy food and fish. our sleep schedule hasn't changed much in the past month. still bed around seven - seven thirty; up around five thirty to nurse then back to bed until about...oh, it has changed...until about eight thirty! he says dada to dada and blows bubbles when i say mama. sign language is going well. he knows more, eat, bye bye, and milk and uses them appropriately. as you can see in his pictures, his latest is clapping. we watch AFV a lot and he has picked up clapping. lastly for now, he knows "foot" and will give it to you when you ask and will give five with his hand also. we sure do love this boy and we are so excited to see him grow and learn.

so good to me

So Good to Me
By: Cory Asbury

Verse:
I waited patiently upon the Lord
And He inclined and heard my cry
He pulled me up out of the miry clay
He set my feet upon the Rock
He gave me beauty for ashes and joy for my mourning
And praise for heaviness
He put a new song in my mouth and a crown upon my head
He gave me life forevermore
So good, so, so good to me, Jesus
And He placed my feet on the solid ground
Hallelujah, hallelujah

Chorus:
He’s been so good, so, so good to me; so good, so, so good to me
Post-chorus:
He picked me up and He turned me around
Tag:
I’ve got love, joy, peace and righteousness in the Holy Spirit

i have heard this song quite a few times and i sing it out loud. no joke. out loud. today it was one of the worship songs at church and i was not singing. the chorus came along once and i let it pass by. see; life wasn't perfect this morning. paul and i were not getting along. (believe it or not, our marriage isn't perfect and some of the most uncomfortable times are walking into church where people expect a smile. another reason i love our church because it's ok not to be ok. and it's really ok. they don't just say it's ok then talk about you later. again. no joke. ) so, as i stood next to my husband whom i love but i did not like i wasn't singing and i was thinking "he (God) isn't being so so good to me, i feel like complete poo and i am mad". then came the chorus a second time. i don't know if you are like me but 'christain' songs hit me and they hit me hard. and this time i started singing and God told me - i have been good to you, i have been so so good to you. honestly i stood there and began singing out loud and realizing that even though life isn't perfect God has been good to me and i know it once i get passed myself.

and if that wasn't enough; we sit, we begin listening to our pastor talk and what does he say? the same thing! he quotes the song. he says what i have just told myself. and reiterates what God just told me.

moral of the story? even if things aren't perfect, even if there is something wrong and even if it's something big; i promise you, if you follow Christ, he has been so so good to you. so sing it and sing it out loud.
